WATCH IT: Girls "Lust For Life"

Girls Lust Nothing should be shocking anymore, especially in rock 'n' roll, a music that arguably belongs more to the Boomers and their olde magazines and Hall Of Fame than to the youth of today. But, San Franciso's Girls is the rare rock act — outside of death metal or goth, perhaps — that will probably shock the parents, with a backstory that includes a connection to the Children Of God cult and a vibe that restores the often missing sex and drugs into the rock equation. This director's cut version of "Lust For Life"  — directed by Aaron Brown and Ben Chappell aka Focus Creeps, and edited by Bruce Ashley of Company X—  is like a Richard Kern photograph turned into a music video: It has an innocence, but it also has a whole lotta nudity and sex, largely of the androgynous and polyamorous varieties. Even though you could envision this video scaring the willies out of lots of parents who believe themselves hip to all things rock, this video probably captures what you presume the spirit of San Francisco was really like back in 1967 when Rolling Stone launched and rock 'n' roll was the embodiment of the counter culture. Or, just click thru for cheap thrills. It's all good, I think.  --> watch "Lust For Life" (nudity, sexual situations, NSFW)
