WATCH IT: Katy Perry "The One That Got Away" (Floria Sigismondi, dir.)

Katy Perry is old, rich and totally unsatisfied. This video for "The One I Love" plays like an old Hollywood flick about doomed lovers, framed out with Perry as an elderly woman who thinks back with remorse about a love affair that wasn't meant to be. Her younger, wilder days provide most of the action, allowing Perry to act as a sort of Joan Jett means Zoey Deschanel free spirit in a hot and heavy and creatively tumultous relationship with actor Diego Luna. Things of course wind up horribly and unfixably wrong, with Perry left with nothing but a tattoo, some memories and a sadness best expressed by Johnny Cash singing "You Are My Sunshine" (which plays as a sort of coda to the tale). --> watch "The One That Got Away"
