WATCH IT: MGMT "Kids"

Mgmt An ominous intro with a Mark Twain quote — er, uh, I mean Nietzsche [ed: Wouldn't John Grisham have been a funnier choice?] — is the first indication that the video for MGMT "Kids" will not be a joyous celebration of the wonders of childhood. The second indication is the monsters trying to snatch a horrified tyke from his crib. You see, the reason your baby cries is because he's like Rowdy Roddy Piper in They Live: He sees the ugly, awful truth about all the bloodthirsty cretins and ghouls and monsters that masquerade all around us as normal human beings. Oh, and that animated childrens TV you make them watch? That scares them too. --> watch "Kids"

Sucks for the little boy, he'll grow up to realize that all those memories he has are a price for a particularly lame video. "Dude, it's like this boy, and like the whole video he is really scared, cuz there are all those monsters, cuz he sees evil in people" "ohh and dude, let's put some quotes in the beginning, so that people like know, what we are talking about" LAME.

A little psychic trauma has never hurt anybody, has it? (Oh, it has. Oops.) That said, I'll gather that mommy was on-hand to keep the kid from descending into madness. And I think this video is a winner. Maybe a little random and shambling, but that's part of the charm in MGMT as well.

i watched behind the scenes and the little boy did get scared and cry a couple of times.that poor kid.any mum that does that to their son needs to be put in a asylum for deranged parenting.obviously they don't know how to bring their children up cause any proper loving mum would do anything to stop their child from being scared!!! i would never scare my child for a few quid,what a sick psycho women-yes women NOT A MOTHER!!! and people wonder why there are so many psychos in the world,this one can defiantly be blamed on the parents! and what kind of band think they will make it big in music by using a 18 month old SCARED child in their video. Honestly how many mums are really gonna still like this song after seeing the video????NOT A LOT!!!
