Pulse Signs Director Rodrigo Saavedra

Further expanding the talent roster of the modern day studio, Pulse announces the signing of Brazilian Director Rodrigo Saavedra.

With experience in directing cutting edge commercials for global brands including the likes of Budweiser, Chivas Regal, Nissan, Mizuno and Volkswagen, Rodrigo is fast becoming an awards favourite, winning critical nods this year for his innovative work; including a Silver Lion in Film Craft at Cannes Lions for his interactive spot for Volkswagen, and a Bronze Lion in Film for his virally celebrated spot for Scrabble – branded storytelling that Time Magazine referred to as “the perfect love story for word nerds”.

Prior to directing full time, Rodrigo cut his commercial credentials in senior creative roles for a host of challenger agencies, including the iconic Mother London, exciting independent Africa Brazil, alongside WK Amsterdam and Santo Buenos Aires. With this experience, Rodrigo not only saw first-hand how production played a vital role in bringing a concept to life, adding layers to a script to take it to the next level, it gave him a solid understanding of the demands creatives are under and how to work in a way that would both support and enhance their vision.

Whilst their portfolio is obviously impressive, the fact that we were both on the same page when it comes to ways of working really appealed.”

Having worked within the rather hectic South American commercial space, Rodrigo believes this experience in delivering high volumes to tight deadlines, whilst maintaining quality, will stand him in good stead for the competitive London market. Looking to the future, Rodrigo cites the likes of Ikea and John Lewis as being brands on the wish list for collaboration, brands that he considers to have a real emotive link with their audience.
