Wake up. Have coffee. Turn on the TV. Leave the apartment and realize the world has changed. You're the last human left, living among anthropomorphic animals. Bears roam the streets with briefcases in their hands. Rabbits drive cars that are more than meet the eye (They're Transformers, get it?). Pigeon-headed humans are everywhere.
Every now and then I get a video and a song that blows me away. That's the case with this mixed-media work of strange art for Wintersleep's "Jaws Of Life."
Sean Wainsteim, director: "This was a labor of love. Took about a month and a half of mostly late nights with a handful of very talented animators and designers who gave up evenings and weekends from their day jobs to lend some time. Much of the look is derived from the artwork of designer James Mejia who gave a lot of his time designing all the backgrounds.
We shot SLR stills on a nearby rooftop with another musician as the protagonist and then again with myself as the pigeon headed characters. Everything was cut out by hand in a deliberately loose and quick style. This was an aesthetic decision. Blue Screen would have been faster and better, but we wanted to see a different background peaking through"
