David Bowie "Where Are We Now?" (Tony Oursler, Dir.)

David Bowie - Where Are We Now?

David Bowie breaks nearly a decade of silenece with news of a new album, a new single and a new video. All on his birthday, no less (happy birthday). As always expected, "Where Are We Now?" is a bit of an enigma: Despite the title, the video is located in the past, revisiting both Berlin in terms of place and sound — shooting in a garage beneath the apartment he lived in while recording his 1977 masterwork, Low.

Multimedia artist Tony Oursler directs, taking his blend of sculpture and face projections to this music video, preserving a whole lot of mystery about Bowie's current image, but maybe suggesting that the former Ziggy Stardust / Aladdin Sane / Thin White Duke has a more technological guise in mind for this new foray.
