John Mayer

John Mayer "New Light"

John Mayer lives up to the promise of delivering "PREMIUM CONTENT!" in this awesome homage to ridiculously cheesy music videos.

And contrary to the claim that it was made place "with a company that usually does birthday and Bar Mitzvah videos" and a title card that credits Celebrity Status Music Video Service, it seems to actually be the work of Fatal Farm of Lasagna Cat fame.

John Mayer and Katy Perry "Who You Love" (Sophie Muller, dir.)

Love is like a bucking bull. Hang on, enjoy the ride, be prepared to fall.

Director Sophie Muller interesperses that visual motif with intimate one-on-one performance between real life couple John Mayer and Katy Perry.

May these two be the next Ira Kaplan and Georgia Hubley. Unless you're a fan of breakup albums like Shoot Out The Lights...

Chances are you've seen those "scanimation" or "photicular picture books — Gallop and Safari are two big ones — that use a segmented piece of acetate to create the illusion of motion. The fancy/Rench term for this is Ombro Cinema and it's been around since before traditional cinema. This unofficial video uses that and various book-making tricks to create a live-action animated video that fits the song like a bespoke suit.
