Google used the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to announce the addition of a Video Store to their Google Video offerings. Users will be able to buy and/or rent all sorts of content, including current and classic CBS programs, NBA games and videos from Sony BMG labels. Sony BMG artists include such star acts as Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Kenny Chesney, Jessica Simpson, Shakira and System of A Down.
Users will be able to download non-copy-protected content from Google Video and play it on iPods and Sony PSP Playstation Protables. The Store will be available throughout the world, but premium content that can be purchased will only be available in the U.S.
An official launch date for the Google Video Store has not yet been announced.
