A bit of explication, before we get to the winners of this weekend's MuchMusic Video Awards. Some of this may be obvious, some may not.
- MuchMusic is a Canadian music video channel. Or, as the official MuchMusic verbiage puts it, "a Canadian network dedicated to providing an entertaining, informative, and engaging look at popular music as it happens."
- Since Canada is a foreign country (who knew!), only videos produced for Canadian artists are eligible for the main awards. U.S. content is eligible for the International categories.
- VideoFACT is a program funded by MuchMusic and its sister channels covers up to 50% of a video budget — with grants capped at $25,000 — so long as certain Canadian Content criteria is met. And, don't get me started about their universal health care.
