WATCH IT: Michael Jackson f/ Akon "Hold My Hand" (Mark Pellington, dir.)

Michael Jackson casts a literal shadow over most of the proceedings in this post-humous production featuring Akon. Aside from that recurring shadown likeness motif, director Mark Pellington goes the imagistic route, interspersing some old MJ footage with shots of kids and fans being inspired by the lasting legacy of his music.

Mark Pellington, director: "The video is a tribute to all that Michael stands for — life, in all its permutations... love, and its power... A video of memory, healing and joy."

"...A video of memory, healing and joy." Isn't that all Pellington videos of late?

In a way, though this is less personal and less about loss than some of the others have been... More joyous, I guess.
