This feels like a good day for something light...
The Paul Simon and Saturday Night Live connection is basically unmatched: He hosted the second episode ever, hosted and served as musical guest alongside some dude named George Harrison in the second season, and then appeared about a dozen more times over the years, including the first episode back after September 11, 2011, where he opened the show with a performance of "The Boxer." So, not the first time he's been a palate cleanser of sorts.
The video for "You Can Call Me Al" could have been a Saturday Night Live skit, starring the show's Chevy Chase one-upping Simon by beating him to the lip-sync punch at every verse and chorus. It's a simple set-up with the tall brazen Chase and the short, humble Simon making a perfect pair.
