There's just the right amount of Kubrickian precision and foreboding madness as frontman Alex Turner plays a hyper-focused director as he and Arctic Monkeys make their masterpiece at a palatial estate.
There's not usually a fine line between reality and fantasy in a music video. If anything, most music videos are highly distanced from reality — unless you care to pretend that even the most mid-level artist can like like Hugh Hefner. But things are quite blurry for the lonely woman in this new Arctic Monkeys video, who finds that she's not just passively watching her favorite band on TV, but actually communicating and connecting with them as if they are actually right there with her.
PS: I'd be willing to bet that more people would be into this than 3D TV.
Into the noirish night with the Arctic Monkeys, this b/w clip mixing performance of their song "Arabelle," contains hints of sex and danger along with the swingingest doom metal riff since "War Pigs."
Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner has had a few too many. In fact, he's out of his mind. And while it seems the evening is likely going to end in a booty call with the his clingy texter, there's also a chance it's just another hallucination.
Just when you think we're in for an "anti" video of just a modulating sine wave, the squiggles get stepped-on, transformed and taken to a much higher (pun intended) level.
