Director Ian Pons Jewell sets you up for the kill, literally, in a video where the Absolutely Fabulous actress Joanna Lumley does what it takes to maintain her youth and the spotlight at a truly bizarre nightclub...
What starts as a dopey love story — hey, let's take a selfie — filled with way too many audio device placements turns out to just be a music video within a music video about a woman who'd rather literally enter the screen of said music video. Confused? Just watch. Thank me later.
The video is based on a dark Bolivian urban legend, that there is an old custom of men being sacrificed in the foundations of large buildings and bridges to give them strength. The stories talk of street alcoholics and vagabonds who no one will notice are gone.
Wanda Productions has signed award winning commercial and music video director Ian Pons Jewell.
Originally from London, the director is currently based in Bolivia, shooting there and other locations throughout South America. Recent work includes videos for Naughty Boy, Tinie Tempah, Crystal Fighters and DJ Shadow. He was nominated for Best New Director and won Best Urban Video on a Budget at the UK Music Video Awards in 2011.
About midway through this video I decided that it's a loose retelling of the Wizard Of Oz, but in Bolivia, which looks even more magically odd and beautiful than Oz itself.
