An animated collaborative video by Josie Brookes Illustration and Tom Madge of AnimateCity
The finished video was created using 2D stop-motion animation with Singer Emma Pollock’s performance cut from printed film stills. The undulating head belongs with, but is at odds to, Josie's bold sequences of geometric print. Together they push and pull with the song to explore ideas of identity and someone working to separate themselves from their humanity.
NZCA Lines consists of Michael Lovett, Charlotte Hatherley (Ash) and Sarah Jones (Hot Chip). For "Two Hearts" Michael and Sarah sing back to back amidst a bunch of flashing lights and spotlights. It’s all reminiscent of Gary Numan’s “Cars” and Broadcast’s “Papercuts” and is in my opinion worth your attention.
As Supreme Cuts prepare to hit the road for their first European tour, the pair have dropped a video for Divine Ecstasy standout ‘Envision’.
Directed, shot and edited by Braden Lee, the loosely narrative video follows its protagonist’s snowcapped adventures from the mundane (dancing in laundromats) to the transcendent (raving in a case). Lots of slo-mo, reverse shots and Penrose triangles.
