MUCH MUSIC ALERT: Adds for the Week of 7/11/05

I am very happy to begin presenting the weekly music video adds for Canadian channel MuchMusic. Since label affiliations are often different from the American ones, I'll just be listing artists and titles.

Much Music Video Awards Recap

The 2005 Much Music Video Awards took place on Saturday in Toronto. Billy Talent and k-os videos and their respective production companies Spy Entertainment and The Revolver Film Company were the big winners. Billy Talent won in the Best Video and MuchLOUD Best Rock Video categories for "River Below," directed by Sean Michael Turrell of Spy. K-os had two videos that were recognized with awards on Saturday; "Man I Used To Be" took the MuchVibe Best Rap Video, Best Cinematography and the clip's directors, The Love Movement featuring Micah J. Meisner and k-os, were recognized with Best Director honors. K-os' other video, "Crabbuckit," won Best Pop Video. Both k-os clips were produced by Natalie Galazka and ZebRoc through Revolver.

Much Music Video Awards Preview

Things to look out for at the 2005 Much Music Video Awards, to be held Sunday June 19 in Toronto.

1. Performances by The Arcade Fire, Black Eyed Peas, Ciara, The Killers, Ashlee Simpson, K-os, Alexisonfire and Billy Talent.

2. Special guests Sum-41, Carmen Electra, Mos Def, Backstreet Boys, Jamie Kennedy, Rob & Amber of reality show shame and Tie Domi, who played this sport that used to exist called hockey.

3. At least one win apiece for Billy Talent and K-os. Billy Talent leads all contenders with nine nominations; K-os has eight nominations, including two clips up for Best Music Video.  Also guaranteed to have good evenings are production company Spy Entertainment and The Revolver Film Company which have approximately 15 nominations each scattered throughout the many categories.
