Pharrell

Missy Elliott f/ Pharrell "WTF (Where They From)" (Dave Meyers, Missy Elliott, dir.)

Put on your disco ball suit and rejoice the reteam of Missy Elliott and director Dave Meyers — "Work It" and "Lose Control," just to name two collabos — who unfurl the kind of looks and set-ups (plus marionettes!) that make clear that Missy is just as fresh despite the 10 year gap.

Here's hoping the end sequence isn't a reference for disappearing for another large gap.

Ed Sheeran f/ Pharrell "Sing" (Emil Nava, dir.)

Maybe you heard "Sing" with its Pharrell hook and its borderline dance beat and wondered how Ed Sheeran could exist in that world without becoming a cartoon character. Well, you were close: Sheerann has become a puppet to explore this flyer side of his personality, where he can model a pair of Beats, hit a strip club and basically get jiggy with it (but with a knowing wink).

Future f/ Pharrell, Pusha T "Move That Dope" (Benny Boom, dir.)

There's an '80s throwback TV show vibe to this ode to slinging dope, from the old-school cell phone, the gold chains and some cop chases.  And Reagan.

PS: I have a feeling that we're going to see more Beats Music video placements than Beats By Dre headphones this year. Anyone want to keep track of them for me?

PPS: Yes, of course Pharrell wears the hat.

Daft Punk "Lose Yourself To Dance" - official version

If you caught the teaser clip from the VMA telecast, then you basically know all you need to know about the new Daft Punk video — the first official one to be released off Random Access Memories. Our favorite French robots get joined by Pharrell and guitar/disco legend Niles Rogers for a glittery performance to an adoring crowd. There's a feel-good innocense vibe to it all, that depending on how jadded you are will be either underwhelming, or a welcome respite from the NSFW onslaught.
