Villagers "Earthly Pleasure" (Tom Werber, dir.)

Literal music videos are a good meme: take a music video and change the song so that it describes exactly what you see on the screen. But, would the inverse make for a good video?

In the case of this video directed by Tom Werber for Villagers, the answer is a defnite "yes." Werber doesn't try to nail each and every image in this densely lyrical tune, but the video's star does indeed start on a toilet and eventually meets the Esperanto Goddess.

It all makes perfect sense based on the lyrics, even if it doesn't make sense at all. Which also fits the song's theme like a glove (not literally).
