Spaceman is a story many of us are all too familiar with. It is a story about relationships - relationships with friends, relationships with significant others - and how many of them are in constant orbit. Some of our closest friends disappear from our lives with no warning. Spaceman is a visual representation of a song by singer/songwriter Anna Marie Carey that forces its listeners to feel the nostalgia, the joy, and even grief of the loved ones of their past that they long for. It does this through its relatable story, thought-provoking lyrics, and dreamy tones.
The music video was shot 100% on film, using three different formats to visually tell the story - 16mm motion, 35mm still, and 120 still. This story desperately needed to be captured on film to bring the audience into a familiar place, give the characters life, texture, and emotion that can not truly be produced digitally.
