Fall Out Boy "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)" (DONALD/ZAEH, Dir.)

My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up) (Off...

The Fall Out Boy comeback is underway with a new song and a teaser video that features lots of fire. Despite the presence of 2Chainz in the video (not the song) and an opening vamp that sounds a bit like "Power," the song hits that Michael Jackson x hair metal x pop/punk sweetspot that typified the band back in the day.

Beach House "Forever Still" (Beach House with Max Goldman, Dir.)

Beach House - Forever Still

Pink Floyd did it in Pompeii, at an ancient Roman amphiteater built around 70 B.C. Beach House make do with Texas, and instead of being rurrounded by gorgous relics, they're encircled by car lights and the crumbling sprawl of The Lonestar State. A lesser budget, for sure, but still with a touch of grandeur. (PS: This is 26 minutes long)

Director Jon Small on Run-DMC/Aerosmith "Walk This Way" [1986]

Interview and text by Stephen Pitalo, The Golden Age of Music Video -

Over twenty five years ago, hip hop godfathers Run-DMC and rock legends Aerosmith took a chance on crossover success by remaking the latter's 1970s riff-tastic hit "Walk This Way" as a hip hop record. The subsequent video had its own set of challenges, according to director (and longtime Billy Joel video collaborator) Jon Small.

BEST MUSIC VIDEOS OF JANUARY 2013

Bonobo "Cirrus" (Cyriak, Dir.)

Bonobo - 'Cirrus' (Official Video)

With an upbeat organic track from Bonobo and a bunch of '50s footage comes this hypnotic video with an unsettling kaleidoscopic effect. Cyriak takes everyday routines and stitches them into working parts of a machine that stomps its way through a populated city. Perhaps this daily monotony is what keeps the American "machine" moving.
