Jay-Z Doing "Picasso Baby" for Six Hours In NYC Right Now

Jay-Z is lip-syncing his song "Picasso Baby" for six hours today. Or as it's commonly referred to: He is shooting a music video.

The rapper is at NYC's Pace Gallery today — which has a Picasso connection — doing a marathon shoot for a crowd of fans and celebs.

The stunt is reminiscent of what The National did for "Sorrow" — playing the same song, live, for six hours straight at MOMA PS1 for Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson's cheekily titled show, "A Lot of Sorrow" — but it's already apparent that Jay-Z can take the same basic set-up and turn it into a worldwide, real-time phonenomenon.

Respect.

Buffetlibre "El Niño" (Paloma Zapata, dir.)

Directed by Paloma Zapata, the video represents the internal fight of its main character (Isak Férriz) dipped into huge frustration, unable to move forward and find a way out. The character conscience is represented by a child ("El niño" in spanish), that turns the main character anguish into extreme natural phenomena such as wind, fire and rain.

David Fincher x Yeah Yeah Yeahs x Rooney Mara = Calvin Klein Downtown Spot

DOWNTOWN Calvin Klein - Featuring Rooney Mara

Director David Fincher x Yeah Yeah Yeahs x actress Rooney Mara would be an epic music video. Instead it's an equally impressive commercial for Calvin Klein fragrance Downtown.

That said, the line between what's a commercial and a music video will only get blurrier as product placement and commercial repurposing becomes as ubiquitous as music in advertisements. Blurred Lines, indeed.
