Nils Frahm "Re" (Balázs Simon, dir.)

"I like the freshness and power of concept art a lot, but I have a feeling that in most cases the atmosphere gets lost during the execution of the video itself. That’s why I decided to draw the graphics in a free manner, and animate the movie using these drawings directly. I didn’t recreate the scenes in 3D, I simply broke the graphics down to their elements and used them in 3D space, like a relief. This way the video exists somewhere between 2D and 3D, and the scenes only make sense from the perspective of the camera" - Balázs Simon, director

Tourist "Illuminate" (Nicolas Ménard, dir.)

A Korean letter leads us on an animated journey...

"‘Illuminate' stems from feeling like you're in the dark in a relationship, it’s about the frustration you feel when you don’t know what you’ve done to upset someone. ... When it came to visuals, my dream scenario was to animate something for the video, and we were incredibly fortunate to get to work with Nicolas [Ménard]. I implicitly trust his taste and was keen to let him go wherever he wanted with the video...” - Tourist

“It’s been a real blast to direct Tourist’s 'Illuminate' music video. Not only because it’s such a playful, awesome sounding track, but also because Will was keen to jump straight into the weird abstract universe I’d suggested. It’s also been really fun to play with the idea of translating a poem into Korean; a little metaphor for miscommunication in a relationship. I’m looking forward to seeing whether people dig out those cryptic messages..! Everything was animated frame by frame in Photoshop, with some slight compositing in After Effects, and the editing in Premiere” – Nicolas Ménard, director

Hannah Peel "Find Peace" (Piers Vernon-Kell, dir.)

"I interpret Hannah Peel's "Find Peace" as a nod towards man made climate change and inevitable self destruction. My aim was to reflect the tone and message of the song without being too direct. The premise of the video is nature becoming consumed by technology. I used a mannequin to represent humanity as a self made artificial force." - director Piers Vernon-Kell.
