Alicia Keys has enjoyed commercial success by recreating the sound and spirit of classic soul records. Now she’s honorably jacking scenes from an older film for her latest video. “Teenage Love Affair,” is set on the campus of historically black college that closely resembles the fictitious Mission College in Spike Lee’s musical School Daze. Director Chris Robinson references moments from the 1998 film, complete with a cameo appearance by actor Giancarlo Espositio, who played Big Brother Almighty. Like most of Alicia Keys’ sampling, this homage is creative, timely and sure to attract interest in her music, as well as the source material.
