Drake "Worst Behavior" (Director X and Drake, dir.)

We open on the legendary Royal Willie Studios for some classic and classy soul sounds. And then we see those suave cats outside the studio, surrounded by the rougher reality of modern Memphis. "Cruel Intentions" tales several sharp turns like that — including a comedic break with two of Drake's cohorts doing "bizness" with Memphis rap titans Project Pat and Juicy J  — but each one adds to the overall vibe of this 10 minute workout.

And, ps: The moustache man in the first part of the video? That's Drake's dad.

Miley Wins Best Music Video @ 2013 MTV EMAs, Smokes A Joint, Twerks, etc

Let's dispense with the business first:

The 2014 MTV EMA Best Video winner is:

Miley Cyrus "Wrecking Ball" (Terry Richardson, dir.)

Now, onto the fun stuff...

Miley got the biggest headlines at the annual European Music Awards, held in Amsterdam this year, for two reasons: First, was her opening performance of "We Can't Stop" which had her rocking an homage to Britney's "Oops I Did It Again" but with a midget (of course). And then got even more headlines when she lit up a joint while accepting her Best Video award, because that's what you do in Amsterdam.

Highlight of the show for me was Breaking Bad's RJ "Walt Jr." Mitte presenting the award for Best Female, since it's probably now clear that RJ is the BB castmember most likely to wind up signing autographs at conventions with Tuco Salamanca and Huell.

Califone "Frosted Tips" (Jared Varava, dir.) [NSFW]

I first heard Califone ages ago, back when I was in college and my brain was still spongy enough to process copious amounts of music. Over a decade after that, I cold called this guy Tim Rutili to ask if he’d be interested in scoring a short film I made. He agreed, proceeded to compose one of the most beautiful ditties I’ve ever heard, and I’ve been vastly in his debt ever since. This video is my modest way of contributing to that giant karma machine and impressing the pants off the starry-eyed, college-aged me.

Justin Baldoni Puts His Music Video Directing Skills To Use For His Marriage Proposal

Ladies beware: This is how a music video director proposes...

It's nearly :30 minutes long — including end credits —  but don't go thinking it's just a hidden camera piece: Director Justin Baldoni takes things into some spot-on pop video parodies about five minutes in, before returning to the business at hand.

PS: Congrats, Justin!
