The Rasta conversion of rapper Snoop Dogg into reggae toaster Snoop Lion is no joke — something made clear in the Reincarnated documentary and put into practice with "No Guns Allowed." News footage of school massacres is matched with stark b/w footage of kids playing with guns and up-close of shots of Snoop and his daughter, Cori B, who sings on the track.
It's a long way from the early days, with the West Coast gangsta trappings that involved gun charges and standing trial for murder, but Snoop's career has been a series of re-inventions — from gangsta rapper to pornographer to TV star to linguistic genius to Hot Pocket pitchman — so don't call it a comeback.
