NEWS: MTV VMA Ratings Recap

The ratings for the 2007 MTV VMAs were up 23% from last year and were the "highest rated telecast on ad-supported cable year-to-date among P12-34." (translation: Ratings blew away anything else on basic cable this year except for that damn High School Musical 2, which debuted August 2 of this year and was the highest rated basic cable telecast of all time. HSM2 also scored records in the kid demo of ages 6-to-11 and those damn tweens aged 9-to-14. [source])

More importantly, I think, MTV.com set records for itself in terms of unique visitors and streams. The site garnered  2.6 million unique visitors to the site on Awards day — up 40% from last year — and overall traffic was 32% higher than their previous best day ever. As of 3:30 pm Monday, MTV.com had delivered six million streams of VMA related content. Less than one million of that number of streams occur ed on Awards night, so don't be surprised to watch that number keep growing at an impressive clip as people realize just how much content from the Awards show was not on the telecast.

All numbers and factual sorta stuff is from today's MTV Telecast Press Release.

Also, Britney Spears' live performance is still considered horrendous by all sentient human beings.
