MTV will be bringing the annual MTV Video Music Awards to L.A.'s Staples Center for the first time ever. Also a change of pace is the moving of the show from its usual Sunday night schedule to Thursday, September 6.
The MTV Video Music Awards have graced the airwaves since 1984, hosting performances and infamous moment from a who's who of music stars that runs the gamut from Madonna to Michael Jackson, Nirvana to Guns N Roses and, of course, Kanye West to Taylor Swift.
The MTVU Woodie Awards heads back to Austin on March 15 for another SXSW takeover. The award show will air March 18 @ 8p/7c on MTV and MTV, capping off a Woodies week on both channels that will include interviews and other covereage from the indie music festival.
MTV's annual Video Music Awards are broadcasting live from L.A. this Sunday, August 28 9/8c. Here's the deal:
Performers include Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, Adele, Chris Brown, Bruno Mars, Pitbull, Young The Giant, and a tribute to Amy Winehouse featuring Tony Bennett. Also, Jessie J will be fronting the House Band all night.
Presenting and/or appearing are: Jonah Hill, Rick Ross, Seth Rogen, Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, Odd Future, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Lautner, Drake, Joe Jonas and many more.

The pre-show will feature Nicki Minaj in her first-ever TV performance.
MTV announced the 2010 MTV Video Music Award Nominees today. As expected, it's all about Lady Gaga with a record breaking 13 nominations and, in a rare feat, both "Bad Romance" and "Telephone" are nominated in the Video of The Year category. Other Video of the Year nominees are: 30 Seconds To Mars "Kings and Queens", B.o.B. f/ Haley Williams "Airplanes", Eminem "Not Afraid", and Florence + The Machine "Dog Days Are Over", which is the other big story of the 2010 VMA nominees.
