READ IT: Shrinking Music Videos

Speaking of Thriller, NPR has a story up about the state of music video, entitled Shrinking Music Videos: More Thrills, Less Thriller.

Disregarding the fact they have director Shane Drake credited as Sean Drake — an earlier version of the article also incorrectly credited Martin Scorsese as directing "Thriller" (bonus points: Marty directed "Bad") —  it's an interesting read, since the "shrinking" in question is in regards to screen size and not budgets. How do you deliver a video that will work on screens ranging from iPhones, to computer monitors and even TV screens. To paraphrase director Joseph Kahn, who's also quoted heavily in the article, it's all about the center framing, baby.

And yes, any insolent tone you detect on my part is surely due to not being called to contribute a quote.
