WATCH IT: Bon Homme "Mother" (William Stahl, dir.)

Meet Frank Grimes (no relation), a commissioner on a quixotic quest for the perfect video. Danish musician Tomas Høffding aka Bon Homme sits patiently on the couch as Grimes rubberstamps every idea as not quite right for the song at hand. Too expensive. Too controversial. Too weird. Luckily, "Too meta" and "Too insider baseball" aren't on the no-no list, so this satire of the music video commissioning process serves as the actual video for the song. People in the biz will get a chuckle, while hardcore video fans will also enjoy director William Stahl's loving sideways swipes/homages to gingerphobic clips and the acclaimed directors Martin De Thurah (ed: I'm assuming the Gavras/Thurah mix-up is a very inside joke*) and Michel Gondry. --> watch "Mother" (also in Quicktime here)

*Director William Stahl explains the Gavras/Thurah gag: "The SWAT guy is from the M.I.A video and still searching for redheads to kill. When he asks Frank if he has seen any redheads, Frank sends him to the one place where you will find tons of them: A casting for my good friend Martin De Thurah!
