B-Reel Films had so much fun creating this video for ‘Cruel’ with the wonderful Foxes. Shot on location in a colourful country house in the UK, the video follows her humming, singing and dancing her way around her home – something we can all relate to! Olof mixes moments of emotion with a whimsical air, and the quirky, retro glow of the video totally resounds with Foxes’ unique style.
Alan Masferrer, director: "This is a personal approach to the stages of life: conception, pregnancy, birth, childhood, youth, adultness, oldness and death. This idea is complemented by the circular mise en scène, simulating a continuous trip that turns on the different sets that represent each stage, showing that life can be seen just as a a simple play.
Coincidentally the actress, Anna Hierro, one of the most talented contemporary dancers from Spain, was 4 months pregnant when we asked her to appear in the video. That fortunate coincidence gave an additional dimension to the essence of the project."
Sometimes your mind starts to wander when you're stuck in traffic, but so does Travie McCoy who finds himself in a circular and increasingly bizarre and bombastic journey to see what's further on up the road.
In a way this SPOON video feels like a trip through previous SPOON videos — the car from "Do You" and maybe the studio from "The Underdog" — as a camera glides surreally from scene to scene, catching snippets of sex, crime, regret and other oddities.
"Wake Up is a representation of a broken home, broken promises, broken friendships, it is a wake up call to stand up and be aware of what’s around you. The video sees the EofE trapped within a realm of mystery that is also occupied by shadow creatures. The broken relationship of these creatures has an effect on the band, tormenting them with the destructive state of their love affair." - Lewis Cater
