Nothing But Thieves and director Chris Grieder go for Radiohead heights as actor RJ Mitte (yes, Walt Jr.) tries to lucidly dream his way out of a shitty existence and back into the arms of his missing mother.
The trouble with living in a '70s horror film reality is that there's no escaping your fate, even if you figure out how to evade that initial axe-wielding maniac.
Who is Fancy? Is it a Justin Bieber wannabe teen popper with an attitude? Is it soulful powerhouse who doesn't fit the typical idea of a female r&b singer? Or is it an androgynous cowboy who definitely come close to what you'd see on a Country album cover?
The answer is still a mystery, so just take your pick in the meantime. Literally. Director Chris Grieder created three versions of this video, with three different vocal tracks and three different stars.
So watch the version geared toward the teen-pop set, but also take a look at the r&b and country flavors. All calibrated to get a little mystery and controversy going...
Director Tim Nackashi says this is "It's a Kabuki-inspired tone-piece about travel, longing, seasons changing" which sounds about right for this lovely mix of projections and kaleidoscopic effects.
