WATCH IT: Esmee Denters "Love Dealer" (The Malloys, dir.)

I was never good at logic, but I think you could say Timbaland is to Justin Timberlake as Justin Timberlake is to Esmee Denters. What begins as a seemingly somewhat impromptu rooftop studio session with her mentor Timberlake turns into something a bit brassier when  Denters climbs down the fireescape to strut through the city streets and attract a crowd. --> watch "Love Dealer"

WATCH IT: Jason Derulo "Ridin' Solo" (Scott Speer, dir.)

Jason Derulo may be Ridin' Solo, but it's a situation that should be rectified soon, even if it means surfing the Plenty Of Fish dating site on his iPad [question: First iPad product shot in a video?] Most of this flashy video is Derulo rockin' solo in front of a massive everchanging lightwall, with the key fashion motif being a bedazzled jacket that may have been designed by Hawk & Animal. --> watch "Ridin' Solo"

WATCH IT: Kelis "Acapella" (Rankin + Chris Cottam + Nicole Ehrlich, dirs.)

Kelis clearly goes for a more of a post-Gaga dance/pop vibe in this trippy fashion show of a video for "Acapella". Despite showing lots of glamour and beauty, most of her striking looks here are otherworldly and somewhat confrontational, ranging from a Native American huntress in a forest to a gold-skinned sexy satyr with a couple wolves in a Bedouin tent. --> watch "Acapella"

WATCH IT: Vampire Weekend "Giving Up The Gun" (The Malloys, dir.)

There's a whole lot of random going on here, but nothing that goes over the line (so to speak). Directing duo The Malloys set up Vampire Weekend in a futuro space-age tennis center — one that kind of reminds me of the racquetball court from the M/J Jackson "Scream" video" — where a girl decides to prove her worth against a steady stream of contenders. Randomness? Well, there's the Japanese intro title, Joe "one of the Bros."Jonas and actor Jake Gyllenhaal as opponents, RZA from the Wu-Tang as a judge, and Lil Jon as a coach who helps our champion get crunked up for victory.
