Cruising down a lazy river, wine glass in hand, Adele radiates in this latest clip which first expands into an aquatic ballet routine before getting a little Behind-The-Scenes to show the massive set.
The name "Valentine" surely stems from the filming location of Valentine Recording Studios in North Hollywood, CA, but it's also just as surely a reference to how this lush, multi-song document of Haim in studio is meant for their fans.
An intimate performance video with Sampha at a piano, and a dancer leaving chemtrails as she twirls. That said, the more intoxicating version is the 360 one, which uses the same set-up, but takes place entirely from Sampha's POV.
What at first seems like a fun "guess that aspect ratio" video (I guessed: 9x16) turns out to be a way cooler riff on perspective, as we get a surveillance cam motif mixed with a forward rotating visual plain. Dope, indeed, even if you're more of a QVC person. #HGTV
Lots of artists direct their own videos (or at least take that credit), but nobody goes as far as Grimes, who wrote, directed, edited, colored and art directed hew new "Flesh without Blood/Life in the Vivid Dream" clip. That singular vision hits upon several bloody and trippy set-ups, ranging from day-glo Marie Antoinette to club-kid bandit, sporting gal and fallen angel.
I like to think this video is directly inspired by S.O.D. "What's That Noise," but maybe that's just my inner metalhead popping out. What's undeniable, however, is the Flight Of The Conchords charm and sci-fi paranoia that drive an MGMT album trailer that could serve as a demo reel for any TV producers looking for a trippier version of the Monkees.
I was there... Well, somewhat. But I do remember being in NYC as that first DFA crossover hit, The Rapture "House Of Jealous Lovers," washed the city's indie scene into something much more danceable and fun.
