Pissed Jeans "Romanticize Me" (Joe Stakun, dir.)

Pissed Jeans - "Romanticize Me" (Official Music Video)

Of course the overnight rink attendant — spending his time cleaning blades and riding the Zamboni — dreams of taking the ice and delivering a majestic routine. All grace, spins, and axels. And all done to the dirtnasty rock of Pissed Jeans.

Your move, Brian Joubert.

Father John Misty "Funtimes In Babylon" (Josh Tillman, dir.)

Father John Misty - Funtimes In Babylon [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

Screw the wreckage; Let's dance. Father John Misty surveys the scene of a horrifying (or not) plane crash in this fuzzy 4x3 video — directed by Josh Tillman, aka FJM, with Grant James — that nicely matches the old-school Nilsson vibe of the song.

Low "Just Make It Stop" (Philip Harder, dir.)

Low - Just Make It Stop [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

Director Philip Harder has a long history with Low — something also explored in his feature film about the band, Low Movie (How to Quit Smoking) — and that intimacy is readily apparent here with the macro shots of them in the recording studio. There's an analog naturalness at play here, even giving way to the stop-motion animated vines that gradually overtakes the occasional digital noise and the band.

Beach House "Wishes" (Eric Wareheim, dir.)

BEACH HOUSE - "WISHES" - Directed by ERIC WAREHEIM (Official Video) - PLEASE SET TO 1080p!!!

I am ready to start a viral campaign for Eric Wareheim to direct and produce the next Super Bowl halftime show. Because I don't think anyone has ever captured the drama, the passion, the glory and the absurbity of sport better than he has in this Beach House video.

Go Horses.

UNEARTHED: Postal Service Auditions (Tom Scharpling, dir.)

Finally, director/writer Tom Scharpling brings us the real story of The Postal Series via these unearthed audition tapes. Aimee Mann, Tom DeLonge, Duff McKagan and other music (and some comedy) luminaries all try to impress Jimmy Tamborello and a Sub Pop weasel. Ultimately, Ben Gibbard gets the gig, but not before Moby and Weird Al steal the show.

It's not really a music video, but it's really funny and genius. Enjoy.

Beach House "Forever Still" (Beach House with Max Goldman, Dir.)

Beach House - Forever Still

Pink Floyd did it in Pompeii, at an ancient Roman amphiteater built around 70 B.C. Beach House make do with Texas, and instead of being rurrounded by gorgous relics, they're encircled by car lights and the crumbling sprawl of The Lonestar State. A lesser budget, for sure, but still with a touch of grandeur. (PS: This is 26 minutes long)

Director Scott Cudmore on Metz "Wet Blanket"

Scott Cudmore, director:

"When writing this video I needed a technique that could visually articulate what METZ sound like, which is where the combination of stereoscopic imagery and extreme slow motion came from. I felt like the dynamic of those two techniques put together could maybe get at that sound in a visual way.

I knew that I didn't want to make a completely abstract video or some kind of super low-fi, grainy video because that all seemed far too obvious an approach and we knew that we didn't want to make a performance video. I knew that I wanted it to be big and cinematic  — the song is big and cinematic to me.

WATCH IT: Beach House "Lazuli" (Allen Cordell, dir.)

Paranormal activity abounds in this new Beach House video, ranging from accurate depictions of ghosts — They're invisible, people. That's why they wear the sheets. — to exploding eggs à la Ghostbusters. Director Allen Cordell also includes plenty of his typically absurd moments, but they're kept in check (Adderrall?) and make perfect sense with the dreamy and often awe-inspiring intergalactic vibe. --> watch "Lazuli"

WATCH IT: Father John Misty "This Is Sally Hatchet" (Grant James, dir.)

Welcome to Purgatory Pizza, where the pies are cut like pentagrams and you best watch your fingers unless you'd like to keep them from becoming part of the Supreme special. You should also stay out of the backroom, unless you want to distract a very kickass woman from her riflery target practice. --> watch "This Is Sally Hatchet"

WATCH IT: Mogwai "How To Be A Werewolf" (Antony Crook, dir.)

The loneliness of the long distance pedaler? This Mogwai video is essentially taken from director Antony Crook's short documentatry film 30 Century Man, featuring James Bowthorpe, a cyclist who holds the world record for fasted bike ride around the world by pedalling 18,000 miles across 20 countries 20 days faster than anyone else. And he did it for charity. The compilation that's matched to the atmospheric and driving Mogwai track was shot during a "white" night in the middle of nowhere Norway.
