FROM THE DIRECTORS We wanted to capture Mahalia in environments that were authentic to her upbringing, surrounded by people that mean the most to her, sharing a level of vulnerability and intimacy that her fans hadn't yet seen before. Including voice-over was the most important element for us, as we wanted to really delve into her personal thoughts and be able to share those rare and unspoken moments with the viewer, in an all-encompassing and honest portrait of Mahalia. "
