I would like to tell you a little but about WAVES, a music video I wrote and directed for New York group Dirty Bird, currently on tour for their debut Album ‘Still To Be Ours’. I shot it with my filmmaking partner, Jennifer Liu, together we are two women Director-DP production team Take Two XX.
Dirty Bird has been on the rise since they came out on the scene, with their highly anticipated album release they received a feature in Time Magazine alongside Eminem.
We made this video solely with a personal story and all ambition, we shot in over 9 locations for a 5 minute video. Our entire crew and lead actor are female, half our creative team are WOC and we made this video without anyones approval but our own.
The song is called WAVES and this is our video: WAVES tells the story of loneliness and the power of memories. Loneliness is not just figurative, but literally translated, Alice wakes up to find she is completely alone, the earth devoid of people. She walks through the many desolate areas, searching for anyone, while triggered memories are the only remnants of people she can see. Her memories and her quest lead her to the waves on the beach, where her search finally ends.
