BEST MUSIC VIDEOS OF 2012

Here's the truth: PSY "Gangnam Style" is the only video most people will remember from 2012. It's by far the most popular, most impactful, and the most unabashedly entertaining video of the year. It might be the defining music video of the Internet age (sorry, OK Go). The only reason I didn't put it first is so I didn't have to see his little cartoon likeness on the site yet again.

U2 "One" (Anton Corbijn, Mark Pellington, Phil Joanou, dir.) 2992

First off, we have Anton Corbijn's version, which is the one I most associate with the song. Shot on-location at and around Berlin's Samsa Studio where U2 recorded Achtung Baby and is probably best remembered as the video where U2 is dressed in drag (which overshadowed the fact that Bono's dad has a cameo in it, and made the band think that it wasn't appropriate since all single sales proceed were going to AIDS charities).

Calvin Harris "...From The Bottle" (Haycock/Rojas, dir.)

Calvin Harris feat. Tinie Tempah - Drinking From the Bottle

Although the premise of "Lucifer moves to Hollywood and fits right in" sounds like a sitcom, directors AG Rojas and Vincent Haycock balance the flashes of humor here — I could see actor Brad Dourif's Louis Cypher as a Borscht Belt champion  — with enough malice and mayhem (and mammaries) to push the boundaries of even Cable TV.
