Don't Call It A Fatwa: The Katy Perry "Dark Horse" Controversy

Nearly 50,000 people have signed a petition for YouTube to removed the Katy Perry "Dark Horse" video because:

At 01:15 into the video Dark Horse; a man is shown being burned, whilst wearing a pendant (also burned) forming the word 'Allah', which is the arabic word for God.

Such goes to show, that blasphemy is clearly conveyed in the video, since Katy Perry (who appears to be representing an opposition of God) engulfs the believer and the word God in flames.

Got that?

Three thoughts:

1. If you have to cite timecode and circle the object in question (see above) to make people notice, then you're likely calling way more attention to it than necessary.

2. Have Rick Ross and the Maybach Music Group also started a peition since their medallion is also clearly present?

3. There are 1.6 billion Muslims around the world. 50,000 is less than .004% of them.

Haim "If I Could Change Your Mind" (Warren Fu, dir.)

Haim: If I Could Change Your Mind or How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Learned To Choreograph Dance...

Haim get categorized as an alternative band, but that's mainly due to the nonsensical modern music scene and how you brak a new act. Close your eyes and it's pop/r&b, especially on this track. So, why not embrace it and make a video that's crazy '80s. We're talking a lighted Haim sign that wouldn't be out of place on Solid Gold and full-on dance routines (choreographed by the notable Fatima Robinson, no less).

Comedy Legend Harold Ramis Passes Away, Age 69

If you're uninitiated — and I don't see how you possibly could be — don't let this Ghostbusters video be introduction to comedic genius Harold Ramis. It's just the only music video remnant we have.

Ramis passed away at 69 from complications of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, a rare disease that involves swelling of the blood vessels (per the Chicago Tribune).

His credits include writing Animal House, Stripes, Meatballs, Caddyshack and Ghostbusters, directing Vacation, Caddyshack and Groundhogs Day, and starring in Stripes and Ghostbusters.

Bayside "Time Has Come" (WATTS, dir.)

Committing perpetual suicide to create the world's greatest pasta sauce. The Oujia board smells of gasoline. Don't get too cuddly with the teddy bear. What's lurking in the baby pool? He only snorts the albino rats.

Captured in photos in Canoga Park, California. WATTS cast themselves and friends to pull the various stunts and tricks cluttered throughout the video. Enjoy forwards or backwards. Grip tightly, breathing in short bursts.

A "Seasonal" Music Video Made Over Nine Months Outdoors

Patience is a virtue when it comes to making potentially viral videos. Director Matthew Riggieri and DP Michael Patrick O’Leary set about to capture all the seasons in this Bosley performance. That meant setting the camera in concrete to make sure it wouldn't move and building an outhouse to shield it from the elements over the course of nine months.

The weather never gets quite as extreme as I'd like, but I can add that to my list of grievances over Global Warming.
