Editor James Rose On His Top 5 Videos

Leading editor James Rose -- now signed to Final Cut London -- has long been one of the more sought after editors in London, cutting clips for Kings Of Leon, Hot Chip, Amy Winehouse and many others. Here he revisits some of his favorite videos he's worked on...

Metronomy "The Bay" (David Wilson, dir.)

It's a beautiful moment when the track and visuals meet, and you can't imagine anything else representing the song. Such was the case with 'The Bay,' filmed around Torquay in the south of England, with the help of the English Tourist Board ( who provided the helicopter footage ).  It seemed to perfectly capture the quintessential English summer vibe, with a dash of the Cote d'Azur.

Mark Ronson f/ Amy Winehouse "Valerie" (Robert Hales, dir.)

I can remember standing in one of those, enormo bars watching groups of girls drinking and staring up at the tv screens singing to this song as they drank their weekday cares away. I love working on the obscure critically acclaimed pieces, but its also very heartening as an editor when you see people actually enjoying your work.

The Killers "All the Things That I Have Done" (Anton Corbijn, dir.)

Its all about the numbers on this one. Hold them in your mind and re-arrange them, it all makes sense. Anton Corbijn is at the top of his game on this...a midget, a donkey and killer sluts! It was an absolute pleasure to have edited. I still get goosebumps when the last chorus comes in.

Tame Impala " Mind Mischief" (David Wilson, dir.)

I think the "crush on our elder" concept is a universal one. For me that adolescent desire was my French teacher, but I never fulfilled it in quite the same way as this.  So it was rather fun to live out that dream a little.

Foals "Inhaler" ( Dave Ma, director)

The disaffection of youthfulness mixed with hopefulness is a strong backbone to this piece. The Foals sum that dichotemy up perfectly.
