2020 MVPA Award Nominations Announced

The 2020 MVPA Awards Nominations have been announced, celebrating a wide array of music videos in categories ranging from Genre Awards to Professional Awards, plus a special Lockdown category recognizing work made during the COVID-19 quarantine.

An in-person event is obviously dependent upon Pandemic restrictions, but winners will be announced in the coming weeks, with various roundtables and other activations planned.

Grammy Nominees for Music Video

Nominations are out for the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards, to be broadcast Jan 31 on CBS.

2020 UK MVA Awards Winners

The UK Music Video Awards held a "lockdown" virtual ceremony this year, celebrating some of the best music video work both in the UK and internationally. Director Sam Pilling's video for DJ Shadow’s "Rocket Fuel" stood out on the night,  winning Video Of The Year and three more awards, while fellow director Anton Tammi — who helmed four videos for The Weeknd — won Best Director award, and also Best Pop Video International for "Blinding Lights."

Submissions for the UK Music Video Awards 2020 — which has teamed with the MVPA for the return of the MVPA Awards — ends August 7 for entries of videos, special projects, longform music films, plus individual and company nominations.

CAMERIMAGE Festival Submission Deadline July 31

The final call for entries to the Music Videos Competition at the 28th edition of EnergaCAMERIMAGE, The International Film Festival Of The Art Of Cinematography is July 31.

All submitted entries will be considered for nominations to Best Music Video and Best Cinematography in a Music Video.  The list of nominees will be announced by October 1 and the nominated videos will be screened at the festival, being held November 9 through 16.

There is no entry fee and the submissions can be made via EnergaCAMERIMAGE website.

Only official music videos produced in 2019 and 2020 will be considered. Visit camerimage.pl/en/ for further information.

MVPA and MVPA Awards Return for 2020

The Music Video Production Association (MVPA) has announced a return to action, including the return of its MVPA Awards celebration. Formed over 30 years ago, the MVPA stands as the official organization representing music video creators, serving as a community for the industry as a whole.

The MVPA has also announced a partnership with the UK Music Video Awards, wherein any videos by U.S. directors, production companies or artists that are entered into the UKMVAs this year will automatically qualify and be entered for the MVPA Awards in that same category. The UKMVAs are already accepting submissions for eligible work completed between August 1, 2019 and July 31, 2020 at their website www.ukmva.com, with an August 3rd deadline for entries. The MVPA Awards is being planned as an intimate sit-down dinner and show in Los Angeles this November.
