Director Tony Scott died yesterday after jumping off a bridge in Los Angeles. He was 68. There's a report that he had been diagnosed with inopearble brain cancer.
His filmography runs the gamut from the 1993 critically acclaimed cult classic True Romance (go see it if you haven't), in addition to the blockbusters Top Gun and Beverly Hills Cop 2. More recent films include Unstoppable and Domino.
As always, there's a music video angle: Tony directed both the George Michael clip "One More Try" and the Kenny Loggins Top Gun soundtrack smash "Danger Zone." (And music fans should know that David Bowie starred in Tony's first feature, The Hunger, and Tom Waits has a fittingly surreal cameo in Domino)
A tragedy. Rest in peace, Tony.
