Villagers "Earthly Pleasure" (Tom Werber, dir.)

Literal music videos are a good meme: take a music video and change the song so that it describes exactly what you see on the screen. But, would the inverse make for a good video?

In the case of this video directed by Tom Werber for Villagers, the answer is a defnite "yes." Werber doesn't try to nail each and every image in this densely lyrical tune, but the video's star does indeed start on a toilet and eventually meets the Esperanto Goddess.

WATCH IT: Blood Orange "I'm Sorry We Lied" (Abteen Bagheri, dir.)

Don't presume that the leather-clad dude with the motorcycle is the dangerous one. And, always assume that the interested girl is not just looking to jack your ride. Such is the case in "I'm Sorry We Lied," which shows a whole lot of duplicty, but zero regret. --> watch "I'm Sorry We Lied"

WATCH IT: Arctic Monkeys "Hellcat Spangled Shalala" (Focus Creeps, dir.)

A grainy video that captures the shambling-retro vibe of the song title while tackling the boredom, the beauty and the occasional catharsis of a band on the road. --> watch " The Hellcat Spangled Shalala"

WATCH IT: Chief "The Minute I Saw It" (Austin Peters, dir.)

It's some face melting good times in this video for Chief with very character's visage wiped out by some sort of Gaussian Blur. Either nobody signed a release, or everybody is just living in a haze. --> watch "The Minute I Saw It"
