Lady Gaga and director Jonas Akerlund channel the spirit of Quentin Tarantino in this very ambitious video for "Telephone." Some of the homages are absolutely explicit — the Pussy Wagon, or the quirky dialogue, for example — while others are more in spirit, such as the fascination with exploitation films like the Prison Chick inspiration that grounds the video.

Video concept: Set Three 6 Mafialoose for a wild night in Las Vegas. Superstar club DJ Tiesto on the turntables. Sean Kingston and Flo Rida along for the ride. Lots of hot Vegas locations and hot eye candy, plus a cameo by Paris Hilton*. Problem is, a video shoot with all that crew and equipment doesn't offer the kind of spontaneity that would really allow things to really take off. So, director Rich Newey jettisoned the usual gear in favor of shooting HD 1080 footage on a few Canon 5D and 7D still cameras, utilizing mostly natural light [if natural is the right term to describe the light, or anything about Vegas.
