The troubles of young, forbidden love could be a typical tale, which is why director John Merizalde sets the action in a town under the spell of an unusual cult.
John Merizalde, director: "When I first listened to the track, I was reminded of a small rural town in Georgia called Bethlehem, about an hour away from where I grew up. That, coupled with the themes behind the track — basically a critique against religiously motivated violence and hate — were the initial catalyst for theidea. The use of 16mm film and slow zooms were incorporated to hopefully give it a more old-school feel.
And no, I never attended a snake church growing up... Although I do know some people that did."

Anna Ginsburg, director: "Loyle Carner 'Stars and Shards' is a mixture of hand drawn animation + live-action. Animation was the perfect medium in which to visualise such rich and humorous lyrical content. Plus Loyle Carner has beautiful freckles, magnetic energy and a lot of talent."
PussyKrew, directors: "Our aim was to create a piece beyond the standard performance video. We presented the artists as 3D scans and fused them with digitally created environment. The vibe of the track is intense, bit aggressive. We were trying to recreate this atmosphere as a visual experience and produce powerful imagery, where the invisible violence is transformed into personal strength.

Emil Nava directed the clip, which was shot in a London warehouse. The video features the 20-year-old posing and singing in front of various, gorgeous backgrounds.
This would have also been a fantastic video for Springsteen's "County Fair" or even "Tunnel Of Love," and let me assure you: That's a compliment (even if it exposes my heart as old, suburban, sentimental, etc, etc.)
