Yes, the iconic mansion from Notorious B.I.G.'s "Juicy" is for sale.  This architectural masterpiece is located at the highest point in the Hamptons with a view of the Atlantic Ocean, which can be enjoyed while sitting in the swimming pool or hot tub, both of course on the roof of the house. It's actually down from its asking price of $30 million when it first hit the market in 2007.  If you are interested, here is the official listing.

Has image overtaken music?

That's a foregone conclusion for readers of this blog.  Perhaps 30 years late to the game, but CNN is running with it as the lead story on their site this morning.

Key quote:

"Sell-out" doesn't come up much anymore. Musicians are artists. But they don't need to be starving artists."

When OK Go frontman Damian Kulash talks about how to be a band in the Internet age — and the pluses/minuses of a band working with a  brand entertainment —  you should listen (or read).

OK Go's Damian Kulash Gives Lessons in Branded Entertainment

FROM MV TO MOVIE: Amazing Spider-Man (Marc Webb, dir.)

From music videos to the very well reviewed (and very likable) movie 500 Days Of Summer and now to directing a huge 3D film for one of the most famous comic/movie properties with an opening date right in time for the July 4th holiday.

Marc Webb slings (sorry) into place as one of the biggest MV to Movies transitions with The Amazing Spider-Man, a 3-D reboot of the Spidey franchise starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. It opens July 3, with many Midnight showings schedulef for tonight.

"Kiss My Glittery Ass"— Erykah Badu

I held off on posting the Flaming Lips + Erykah Badu video, not because I am a prude and not because I'm lazy, but because pointless nudity in music videos is lazy. As is not replacing the green screen.*

Music videos have long been held to a slew of non-artistic limitations, one of them being network standards: If you wanted your music video to air on TV, then it had to fit the rules, which at various times meant you couldn't depict fire, guns, drugs, logos, etc, etc. Also on the list, of course, was nudity.
