A list of every great video released this year would go on and on and on — case in point: I've highlighted well over 300 videos as being the best so far this year — so, this list omits many things that are insanely great, or greatly insane.
If all you want is the list, and I know you love lists like Brick loves lamp, there here it is:
It's like Dead Presidents, but with duck masks instead of white face, and a stand-off with a rent-a-cop who is brave enough to a) ride a segway, and b) disarm people with some sick dance moves.
While 2013 was a NSFW bonanza, with the biggest hit having the biggest, uh, exposures, and even megastar pop idols getting in on the act, 2014 didn't feel quite so dirty. That's not to say things were squeaky clean, it's just that the presence of nudity seemed to either be no big deal, or something that could be played for PoMo laughs.
Here's 10 NSFW that really stuck out (no pun intended) from 2014... Not all are meant to titillate, but to each their own...
Are the Feds watching? If so, get the footage and work it into your video... That's the premise for this new Pusha T clip, which mixes surveillance cams with a more traditional performance, and a less traditional dancer.
Not many bands can go from sampling Suzanne Vega to sampling Motley Crue, but so it goes with pop crossover stars Fall Out Boy. In keeping with the schismatic song title, the video has an American boy intrigued by ballerina beauty, even as she fights back at some uglier elements...
Invisible forces, repeated actions, a missing hamster, see-through souls and an array of cuts and bruises that get explained at the end... Welcome back Casseurs Flowters, a French hip-hop duo that continues to be one of the most consistently interesting and provocative music video acts in the world.
I'm reasonably sure this is an accurate depiction of the French health scare system, which is way sexier and stranger than whatever hospital you attend...
You can call her the world's first amputee pop artist, or even the first "bionic" pop artist... Either doesn't come close to capturing the impact of this video for the decidedly unique artist Viktoria Modesta, whose left leg was amputated to improve her mobility due to a condition she's had since birth.
