DIVERSION: Record Collecting And Guilty Pleasures For Girls

In which a lady realizes one should never ask a man about his guilty pleasures. Especially if he has a pony tail. --> watch "Guilty Pleasures"

This little short was directed by Russell Sanzgiri and inspired by Record Collecting For Girls: Unleashing Your Inner Music Nerd One Album At A Time, written by former MTV programmer Courtney Smith. Highly recommended for girls and boys who are, or aspire to be music nerds.

DIVERSION: This Video Needs To Be Amazing

Tweeted this over the weekend — Do you follow @Videostatic? — and now it's blowing up. Coincidence? Most likely. Well deserved? Indeed.

Behold, an insiders look at the music video production process courtesy of 30Frames.

PS: There are always snacks in the video village.

DIVERSION: Mark Gormley "Sing Me Your Song"

This may be the moment when music video product placement jumps the shark. Or, more likely, the greatest product placement video of all time. Music video impresario Phil Thomas Katt — host and producer of The Uncharted Zone, the Gulf Coast's leader in music video programming and production — presents the incomparable Mark Gormley in this 5 clipper for the haunting "Sing Me Your Song." Part of it takes place on the moon, part of it on the beach. There's a woman involved [isn't there always?]. And, there's Cheetos. Cheetos Giant to be exact. In the studio. On the moon. Everywhere. As my branding friend Jay says, "Don't be disillusioned.

DIVERSION: Matt Batt "Summertime City"

The British comedian Robert Popper — whose Time Waster Letters are a must read for any looking to gloriously waste time — discovered this gem. He describes it as, "If a child was told to mime playing the guitar on the TV, it would probably look like this," but honestly: That kind of sells this 1975 performance from Top of The Pops short. It's so much more awful and awesome than that.

DIVERSION: Augmenting Reality

The web video thingamajig seen below is not a music video. Not even close. But, I wish it was, because it's the coolest damn effect I've seen in a while. (And, sorry folks, it's way cooler than data moshing) [[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_large","fid":"157","attributes":{"class":"media-image","typeof":"foaf:Image","height":"344","width":"425","style":""}}]]
